glass in interiors X technology international edition 1/2018 [ BIZNES meble.pl 91 f more inclined to use them – explains Agnieszka Polkows- ka. – Glass is no longer only a beautiful addition, it be- comes a tool by which we can optically enlarge the space, blur the boundaries between rooms and provide more light to our homes. Besides, glass is simply beautiful, elegant and does not collide with any style. Monika Adamczyk-Rokicka, interior designer, owner of the Tailormade.pl studio, thinks that glass is universal material, so it can be used in interiors with very varied stylistics. It works perfectly in both classic and modern rooms – argues Monika Adamczyk-Rokicka. – It is also often used in industrial-loft interiors, in Scandinavian or eclectic style. There are many possibilities of combining glass with other materials and architects can sometimes use it in surprising ways (e.g. sinking elements of plant between the panels). There is also a wide range of types of glass that can be used, such as float vs optiwhite, colourless vs dyed, transparent or milky, so it evokes creativity. Architects decide more often to make bold designs with use of glass, combining aesthetic qualities with func- tionality. I find glass very noble material – says Dominika J. Rostocka, architect, designer. – I love to work with it. As an interior designer and architect, I think it offers extensive possibilities – it can be shaped in many ways. And I am a proponent of traditional processing methods that are now relatively rarely used, such as glass etching, milling, artistic grinding. Working with glass has recently become my pas- sion. I think it is worth saving these traditional technologies from oblivion and restore them by cooperation with Polish manufactures. TREATED GLASS BECOMES EXQUISITE MATERIAL USED IN PREMIUM INTERIORS, EVEN IN RENOWNED FASHION HOUSES. IT WORKS GREAT AS AbDECORATION OF FURNITURE, ESPECIALLY IN NON-OBVIOUS COMBINATIONS WITH STONE OR WOOD. IT CAN BE USED AS HOME JEWELLERY, E.G. AS AbBROOCH FOR TEXTILE DECORATIONS. GLASS ALSO HAS BEEN USED FROM CENTURIES TO THE PRESENT DAY AS AbBUILDING MATERIAL OF SOPHISTICATED LAMPS. NOW IT TRIUMPHS AS AN ELEMENT DIVIDING SPACE –bWHOLE WALLS OR SCREENS ARE MADE OF IT. Glass is moulded with the use of fusing technol- ogy which allows to mould a three-dimensional relief in any colour. It is also hardened, so it can be widely used in interior design (various types of doors, wall panels, showers, glazing, counter tops and many more).
