news X industry IN TODAY’S design one can not undere- stimate the experience and achievements of the elderly, but also can not close the vi- sion and creativity of the young. Can these two worlds understand each other today? Can they work together? How to use the po- tential of both groups? These questions will be answered in the next edition of the event – encourages Małgorzata Czubak, director of the ‘Arena Design’ project. Next year’s edition of ‘Arena Design’ will be unique – the event will celebrate its 10th anniversary. For a decade the ‘Arena Design’ has changed dramatically – the ex- hibition space has grown fourfold, with the number of exhibitors and visitors growing year after year, but first of all, what is most pleasing for the organizers, rose in the awareness of manufacturers and design- ers. A permanent element of the event is the Top Design Award contest. The jury selects and awards products of outstanding design quality. Within 10 years there has been 60 products awarded. For the three pas years the event is accompanied by the ‘Viva Light’ exhibition, featuring innova- tive products, materials and technologies in the lighting sector. ‘Arena Design’ has been accentuating its business character since its inception. It has been and constantly is responding to the needs of manufacturers who are increasingly aware of the necessity to work with design- ers. The expectations of consumers increas and only well thought out, well designed and functional product has a chance to win their sympathy. ‘Arena Design’ was the first event in Poland that created a professional offer for both groups – emphasizes Małgorzata Czubak. ‘Arena Design’ has also become a meet- ing place with world-class designers. Nipa Doshi from Doshi Levien, Inga Sempé, Edward Barber from Barber & Osgerby, Brodie Neill, Sander Mulder, Front De- sign – Sofia Lagerkvist, Charlotte von der Lancken and Anna Lindgren, Francois Azambourg, Werner Aisslinger and Ka- rim Rashid were guests of the event. The list of our guests so far is impressive. We are very happy that the world-famous designers trusted us and chose Poznań to share their knowledge and experience with the partici- pants of the ‘Arena Design’.
